A note from Andrew

Hey —

I’m Andrew. I’m an electrical engineer with a BSEE from UC San Diego (class of 2014), and I’ve played rhythm guitar in bands from pop punk to metalcore and nu-metal, mostly as hobby projects. I also record, produce and mix my own music at home.

That’s why I started VirtualHouse Audio. I’m making these plug-ins for myself too: the engineer in me wants to know exactly what every control does to the signal, and the guitarist mixing his band’s demo at midnight wants it to sound right without a fight. The tools I kept reaching for weren’t built for people like me.

They’re built for commercial studios — deep menus, steep learning curves, workflows that assume you have an engineer on hand. At home it’s just you: a direct input, an imperfect room, limited time, and an idea you don’t want to lose. I wanted tools that respect that — fast to learn, hard to outgrow, and honest about what every knob does.

So that’s the rule here. Every VirtualHouse plug-in has to answer one question: does this help you finish a song? If a control doesn’t earn its place, it doesn’t ship. If a feature needs a manual to understand, it’s not done yet. And we’d rather make a compressor you actually reach for than another one you have to read about.

We’re starting with the mixing tools in November. Then VirtualHouse Drums — because that’s where so many home recordings live or die — and VirtualHouse Mix Rack, each when it’s ready, and VirtualHouse Vocals and LiveReady in 2027. And we’re bringing the same thinking to Android, so the phone in your pocket can be part of the studio too.

This is a small company, and that’s the point. When you write in, you’re talking to me.

Built close to the music.

01 / USEFUL FIRST

Clear choices

Controls earn their place. The interface should help you commit—not ask you to become an engineer first.

02 / SOUND WITH INTENT

Character, not clutter

Each processor has a reason to sound the way it does, with enough range to stay useful beyond one trick.

03 / HOME IS A STUDIO

Real-world workflows

Designed for direct inputs, imperfect rooms, limited time, and the creative momentum that matters more than all of them.
